Ingredients:
- 1 lb bacon, chopped
- 1 white onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 head green cabbage, cored and chopped into bite-sized pieces
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Preparation:
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the chopped bacon. Cook until the bacon turns crispy. Transfer the cooked bacon to a paper towel-lined plate to drain. Leave the bacon drippings in the skillet.
- In the same skillet, add the chopped white onion and cook until it becomes soft and translucent, which should take about 6-8 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent burning.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
- Add the chopped green cabbage to the skillet, along with the paprika and, if desired, the optional cayenne pepper for extra heat. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
- Continue cooking, stirring frequently, until the cabbage becomes tender, which usually takes around 8-10 minutes.
- Reintroduce the crispy bacon to the skillet and stir to thoroughly combine all the ingredients.
- Your flavorful bacon and cabbage dish is ready to be served and enjoyed!
