Cream Cheese Pound Cake
Ingredients:
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3 sticks unsalted butter, room temperature
- 1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, room temperature
- 2 1/2 cups granulated white sugar
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 5 large eggs
- 1/2 cup warm milk
Instructions for Cream Cheese Pound Cake:
- Preparation: Preheat your oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit and position the oven rack in the center. Prepare a Bundt pan or an angel food cake pan (as shown in the picture) by buttering, spraying, and flouring it, or simply using a non-stick spray with flour.
- Sift Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, sift together the flour and baking powder. Add the salt. If you don’t have a sifter, a whisk can be used as an alternative.
- Cream Butter and Cheese: In your electric mixer’s bowl (using the paddle attachment) or with a hand mixer, beat the butter and cream cheese until smooth. Gradually add sugar, making sure to scrape down the bowl’s sides as needed. Beat on medium-high speed until the mixture is light and fluffy, which should take about 5 minutes.
- Add Vanilla and Eggs: Add the vanilla extract and mix until incorporated. Then add the eggs one at a time, alternating with cups of the flour mixture until everything is well combined.
- Final Touches: At the end, add the warm milk and blend it well into the batter. Pour this batter into your prepared pan, smoothing the top evenly.
- Baking Time: Bake the cake for about 90 minutes. You’ll know it’s ready when it turns golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cooling: After removing the cake from the oven, let it cool on a wire rack for about 20 – 30 minutes. This helps the cake to set properly. Then, transfer it onto your cake plate or platter.
- Enjoy As Is: This time, there’s no need for glaze or caramel sauce. Enjoy the cake in its pure, delicious, and moist form. It’s a treat just the way it is!
