- 2 cups walnuts
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 3 tablespoons light brown sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
PREPARATION:
- Start by preparing a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Set it aside for later use.
- In a large non-stick skillet, combine the walnuts, granulated sugar, brown sugar, water, and butter. If you prefer, you can also add the optional cinnamon at this stage.
- Place the skillet over high heat and cook the mixture, stirring occasionally. Continue cooking until all the moisture has evaporated, and the walnuts take on a glossy appearance, beginning to clump together. This should take around 5 minutes.
- Stir in the salt and then quickly transfer the candied walnuts to the prepared baking sheet. Spread them out in a single layer and allow them to cool.
- Once the candied walnuts have fully hardened, break them into bite-sized pieces.
- Your delightful candied walnuts are now ready to be savored!
